LiveScience: Scientists cram an entire computer into a single fiber of clothing and you can even put it through your washing machine. A new fiber computer contains eight devices that work together as a single computing entity, and scientists want to weave many of them so they can work together as cohesive smart garments.
Cochineal mashing time! Not working great though.

I got to "test drive" some machines, got real-deal advice, and even heard a wild story about Charlie Kray.

trying to help a friend choose hands-on programs, does anyone know if there is something in Vancouver/Lower Mainland like the Capilano U Textile Arts program that shuttered a decade ago or anything offered in local colleges around weaving, rugmaking, textiles, things like that I'm coming up short...
I want to have a t-shirt quilt made. Does anyone have recommendations for queer or queer-friendly t-shirt quilt makers US only, boosts welcome!
Fabric after the scouring. The cotton was actually quite clean already, I had washed it in dishwasher liquid and then for good measure washed it with "Sports Wash", which is a detergent which really strips smells and oils off fibers... now into the sumac bath. It appears my vigorous rinsing of the fabric may not have removed all the soap, though... hope the tannins still absorb anyway. Maybe next time will rinse in the washing machine. Will leave the cloth in my homemade tannin bath overnight, then it has to hang up and dry completely.
