I have become in awe and obsessed with Ikat fabric. I just learned about the craftsmanship that goes into it, and my mind is blown. I thought I knew a fair bit about fabrics, but never realized how extraordinary Ikat is. Each thread is dyed with a multitude of colors and when all assembled and woven, the pattern appears. The planning and work involved to just do this part, then on top of that the extraordinary design work. Even fine silks are all handwoven this way.

One yarn I can't get away with is cotton. I had to really force myself to finish this evil eye granny square blanket. It was from Hobbii and 70% off! Was making 2 freeform cushions with leftovers but have hidden them under the bed. I like a bit of give in yarns. Also a super chunky premium acrylic which crocheted up like a board. Never again.

- my favourite yarns generally are Superwash Merino/nylon blends by independent dyers. This lot are all 4-ply (fingering) weight. The intense red is called 'Furnace' by mothyandthesquid. Also love anything tactile and soft!

Trying to get the hang of celtic tatting, just working freehand for now. Real celtic tatting patterns are surprisingly uncommon! There are a lot of cool faux ones, but those won't teach me to use these shuttles. It doesn't look very good at all, but it's just for practice.

Got a mask, weathers decent and now I can finally start doing the more difficult stuff.

I sanded the paint off the aluminium legs, applied paint stripper on the wooden base (not pictured) and used spray adhesive on the foam insert.

Test fit of fabric lid supports. Was going to use a gas strut support I got but it's too big so went back to a fabric solution. It's a bit rough at the moment, but I'm going to redo it once I've sanded/painted it.

A very quiet years weaving - only two teatowel warps. This might explain why our inventory of teatowels on hand is dangerously low

I recently bought a dress on eBay, but I'm pretty sure that is the only article of I purchased in 2023. I also bought a used pillowcase at my local shop, and a new bedsheet from Amazon. That's it for . The industry despises people like me.

Went to B&Q, got some MDF cut to size and now the footstool has a new lid. Entering Ship of Theseus territory here.

Just need the constant rain showers to stop here so I can sand and paint it.
