One piece of Ankara / African print, several scraps of old and , one block I made years ago and... seven suture stitches from the local hospital . Had an accident with my rotary cutter and I use a glove now.

Today, for , I'm sharing one of my favorite pieces: a hand embroidered diagram of a cell. All of the lines are chain-stitched, except the nucleus which is french knots and straight stitches.

You can't tell in this photo, but this thread glows in the dark.

I also do this pattern in colorful threads.

Teaching myself to process a raw sheep fleece phase 1.

1. Casually mention that youre interested in some wool to the farm you volunteer at.
2. Get a noncommittal answer from them and forget about the sheep project.
3. Be surprised when they hand you a full trash bag of freshly shorn wool a few weeks later.

It requires a so-called fingertip feeling, when you mix stripes, patterns & different colors together to get a very nice & pleasant result. But on the other hand, it's hard to fail with Marimekko.

What would be a good natural fiber fabric (or other option) to replace the mesh on the back of this seat back It's in really rough shape (worst damage not pictured). I need something that will retain it's shape, be comfortable on a warm day, and can handle getting wet in the rain. Lightweight would be nice too. Plant fibers only please. Maybe I can weave something out of thin cordage

The museum itself had some beautiful Indigenous weavings though so it was worth the visit.
