my friends cat Bruce resting on a silk pillowcase I naturally dyed/eco-printed with flowers from my garden I have a few of these left in my shop:

I made this wall art/canvas thing a few years ago. I made it from an old pair of jeans and a wooden frame I scavaged from a discarded canvas picture thing.

I basically just cut up the jeans and pinned it to one side stretched it across and secured it the other side.

How'd it look I might make another soon.

On January 18, 2014. Photo of a young woman from San Antonio Palop, Lake Atitln, Guatemala, wearing traditional clothing styles. The tinsel braided into the hair was, for me, a beautiful feature.

The linked article briefly explains the traditional clothing of the Mayans.

I have become in awe and obsessed with Ikat fabric. I just learned about the craftsmanship that goes into it, and my mind is blown. I thought I knew a fair bit about fabrics, but never realized how extraordinary Ikat is. Each thread is dyed with a multitude of colors and when all assembled and woven, the pattern appears. The planning and work involved to just do this part, then on top of that the extraordinary design work. Even fine silks are all handwoven this way.

Genuary 2024 Day 14: "Less than 1KB artwork"

I cheated on this one, and am thinking of 1k as 1block in a quilt. I simplified the colors and reduced the output size, but this is based on my Anni Albers project (day 11).

One yarn I can't get away with is cotton. I had to really force myself to finish this evil eye granny square blanket. It was from Hobbii and 70% off! Was making 2 freeform cushions with leftovers but have hidden them under the bed. I like a bit of give in yarns. Also a super chunky premium acrylic which crocheted up like a board. Never again.

- my favourite yarns generally are Superwash Merino/nylon blends by independent dyers. This lot are all 4-ply (fingering) weight. The intense red is called 'Furnace' by mothyandthesquid. Also love anything tactile and soft!
